On October 3, 2020, Dmar Tucker, a 39-year-old resident of Vallejo, was tragically shot and killed in Antioch, California. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3:54 AM, on Hap Arnold Street. Tucker was ambushed as he parked his vehicle and stepped out, at which point he was shot multiple times. Despite immediate efforts by responding officers to provide first aid, Tucker succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Tucker's death quickly
identified Kelandre Dunn, a 32-year-old resident of Concord, as the primary suspect. It was revealed that the motive behind the shooting was a love triangle involving Tucker, Dunn, and an unnamed female. Dunn had been lying in wait for Tucker, and upon his arrival, Dunn fired several shots, striking Tucker once fatally. Following the shooting, Dunn fled to Stanislaus County.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Antioch Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit, Special Operations Unit, and the Problem Oriented Policing Team, collaborated to track down Dunn. He was apprehended without incident in Modesto. On October 7, 2020, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office charged Dunn with murder while lying in wait and for the personal use of a firearm during the commission of a murder. Dunn was held at the Contra Costa County Jail without bail.
The case against Dunn proceeded through the legal system, and he was ultimately sentenced to 32 years in prison for the murder of Dmar Tucker. The Antioch Police Department expressed gratitude to the US Marshal Service, as well as the Modesto and Vallejo Police Departments, for their assistance in the investigation and apprehension of Dunn. The tragic incident highlighted the devastating consequences of personal conflicts escalating to violence.
