Courtney Antonio “Big Boi” Pittman, a 27-year-old Black man from New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

In the days after his death, his family prepared to gather the people who knew him best—relatives, friends, and those who had shared ordinary moments with him that suddenly felt precious. A funeral service was scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home on Danneel Street, with visitation that morning before the service began. ...
