Ricardo Lopez Jr., a 22-year-old resident of Shafter, California, was found dead on December 3, 2020, in an orchard near Corn Camp Road and Highway 58 in Buttonwillow, California. The Kern County Sheriff's Office received a report of a body at around 7:59 a.m. that day. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Lopez's body, which had suffered traumatic injuries. Subsequent investigations revealed that Lopez had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
