Ruben Zarate Luis, a 26-year-old resident of Santa Maria, California, tragically lost his life on June 26, 2021. The incident occurred late on a Saturday night, around 11:30 p.m., near the intersection of Lincoln and Mill streets. Responding officers found Luis lying on the sidewalk with severe gunshot wounds. He was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital, but despite the medical team's efforts, he succumbed to his injuries the following afternoon.
