In the early morning hours of a Monday in September 2013, the quiet of a Baton Rouge neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. Gary Terell Murphy, a 42-year-old man, was found dead in the backyard of his own home. It was his roommate who stumbled upon the tragic scene at approximately 5:50 a.m. and immediately alerted the authorities.
