On a November evening in 2013, Travis Schandell Harris, a 34-year-old man, was fatally shot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on November 7th at the Kings Court Apartments on Dougherty Drive. Responding officers found Harris unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds near a stairwell in the apartment complex.
The preliminary investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department suggested that the motive for the shooting was robbery.
Authorities believed that three males were involved in the incident. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing two individuals flee after the gunshots, one of whom was identified as 20-year-old Demonte Foster.
Following the investigation, Demonte Foster turned himself in to the police. He was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with the death of Travis Harris. Harris, born on May 23, 1979, was a native and resident of Baton Rouge who had attended Capitol Senior High School and worked in scaffolding at various industrial sites. He was remembered by his family as a blessed, humble, caring, and loving individual.
