Joshua Ellis, a 30-year-old resident of Pomona, California, tragically lost his life on April 19, 2022. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM near the intersection of Arboleda Way and Holt Avenue. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records, Ellis was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Ellis succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The initial investigation was undertaken by the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, which quickly identified the case as a homicide.
Following an extensive investigation, the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit and Major Crimes Task Force arrested 36-year-old Felipe De Jesus Arias-Telles of Santa Ana on May 12, 2022. Arias-Telles was apprehended in Anaheim and subsequently booked at the Pomona City Jail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office charged him with murder under Penal Code 187(a). The arrest was a significant development in the case, providing some measure of closure to the community and Ellis's family. The investigation revealed that Arias-Telles was connected to the shooting through various pieces of evidence gathered by the investigators.
