Joseph Simmons, a 31-year-old New Orleans resident, was fatally shot on July 29, 2014, in a tragic incident that took place in the 7th Ward of the city. Known by the nickname "Jezzy," Simmons was remembered as a beloved son, devoted husband, and father. The shooting occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Joseph Guillaume Place.
