Timothy Hassett, aged 46, was a respected captain in the Olean Police Department in New York. On February 21, 1909, he tragically lost his life in the line of duty. The incident occurred when a civilian reported suspicious activity at the Droney Lumber Company offices, located in the Masonic Temple building. The offices were known to be closed at the time, prompting the civilian to notify the police.
