In the line of duty, 39-year-old Patrolman Walter J. Webb of the New York City Police Department met a tragic end on the streets of the Bronx on August 21, 1931. A ten-year veteran of the force and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War I, Webb was tasked with escorting a fur company's paymaster for a payroll delivery on the 700 block of 133rd Street.
