In the Laconia section of the East Bronx, a burst of violence on a Saturday afternoon left a young man dead. On June 17, 2023, at approximately 4:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting near the New York City Housing Authority's Eastchester Gardens. Upon arrival at 1219 Adee Avenue, officers discovered 22-year-old Miguel Molina with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and transported Molina, a resident of Eastchester Gardens,
to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident was one of two fatal shootings that occurred in the Bronx that Saturday.
The investigation into Molina's death quickly led to a suspect. By the following Sunday, police had arrested 18-year-old Christopher Bradley, also from the Bronx. He was subsequently charged with murder, manslaughter, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of Miguel Molina.
