Patrol Officer Robert A. Burgess, aged 27, tragically lost his life on July 1, 1977, while serving with the Cheektowaga Police Department in New York. Officer Burgess was fatally shot at Sattler’s Drugs Store on William Street. The incident occurred as he attempted to arrest a man for disorderly conduct.
