In the bustling heart of midtown Manhattan, a tragic story unfolded on the evening of January 7, 1988. Willye Jean Dukes, a 36-year-old woman, was on a crowded subway platform at Grand Central Station when her life was abruptly ended. Her estranged boyfriend, John Peter Royster, approached her and opened fire, not only killing Dukes but also injuring her sister, Diane, who was with her at the time.
