In the borough of Queens, a captain with the New York City Health and Hospitals Police Department tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence that has remained unresolved for decades. James Rodriguez, a 32-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of March 26, 1992.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM in the lobby of his apartment building located at 91-10 32nd Avenue in Jackson Heights.
Returning home from a class at Bronx Community College with a classmate, Rodriguez was ambushed in what authorities believe was a mugging. In the course of the robbery, he was shot and tragically bled to death at the scene.
