Maria Carrasquillo, aged 38, tragically lost her life on December 19, 1995, in a horrific incident at the Little Chester Shoe Store in the Bronx, New York. On that fateful day, Michael Vernon, a 22-year-old man with a history of mental illness, entered the store during the peak of the holiday shopping season.
