In the a quiet evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace on East Smiley Avenue. When police arrived at the scene on May 24, 2015, they found 32-year-old Kendrick Thompson, an African-American male, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
