In the spring of 2014, a tragic discovery was made in a Ridgewood, Queens apartment building that left neighbors in shock. On the evening of March 28th, police responded to a 911 call and entered an apartment on Summerfield Street to find a young couple, both victims of a brutal act of violence. Twenty-one-year-old Luis Oscar Padilla Lopez was found, having been shot in the head. Alongside him was his companion, Natalie Mejia-Tavares, also 21, who had been fatally shot in the torso.
