Jessica Mera, aged 40, tragically lost her life on April 19, 2014, in Queens, NY. The incident occurred in her Ozone Park home, where she was fatally shot by her husband, Kevin Canty, a retired NYPD transit officer. On that fateful day, Canty, in a drunken rage, accused Mera of infidelity and shot her ten times with a 9mm handgun. The bullets struck her midsection, upper chest, breast, arm, and armpit. Mera succumbed to her injuries at Jamaica Hospital shortly after the shooting.
