On a spring afternoon, a basketball game in a Queens park turned into a scene of violence that would ultimately claim the life of a young man. Joel Rashko Jr., a 24-year-old male from Newport News, Virginia, was in Roy Wilkins Park on May 10, 2014, with his brother, Julien. The brothers, who were associated with the Bloods street gang, reportedly had an encounter with a member of the rival Crips gang at the park.
