In the early morning hours of August 22, 2014, the life of 37-year-old Raymond Ayala, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a violent encounter in Brooklyn, New York. The incident unfolded inside the lobby of the Farragut Houses, a public housing complex in the Vinegar Hill neighborhood. Ayala was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to his head.
