In a tragic event that unfolded in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, New York, a 41-year-old woman, Song Shim, was found deceased in her Beech Avenue apartment. The grim discovery was made on the afternoon of March 6, 2015, by her own mother.
Upon entering the residence, the victim's mother was met with a horrific scene. Both Song Shim and her 42-year-old ex-boyfriend, Eunjin Bae, were found with fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
Emergency services were called to the location, but both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly pieced together the sequence of events, concluding that the incident was a murder-suicide. It is believed that Eunjin Bae shot and killed Song Shim before turning the gun on himself. This theory was supported by the evidence found at the apartment, which included a firearm and a suicide note left by Bae. The case was closed as the sole suspect in Shim's death was also deceased.
