On May 31, 2014, Kelly Eberhardt, age 55, was found dead in the Panama Park neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. Officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Eberhardt's body at the scene. The medical examiner later determined that her death was the result of a homicide. This tragic incident remains unsolved, and despite considerable efforts from JSO's homicide and crime scene units, no suspect has been identified, and the
investigation eventually went cold around 2019.
In the days leading up to her death, there were additional suspicious events involving Eberhardt. Five days before the homicide, her car was set on fire on the same street where her body was found. Investigators confirmed that the fire was intentionally set, which raises the possibility that these events were connected. The case has remained a cold case for years, and authorities have continuously reached out to the community for any potential leads that could help solve the crime.
Eberhardt's family and the local community have struggled to find closure in the face of an unsolved crime.
