In the autumn of 2015, a family was forever altered by a sudden and violent act. Ivan L. Parks II, a 23-year-old African-American man from Buffalo, New York, was fatally shot on November 1, 2015. His death was a homicide, the result of gun violence that cut his life short. At the time of his death, Ivan was a beloved father to his daughter, a cherished son, and a dear brother.
