In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Brooklyn, New York, the life of 17-year-old Cedric 'Suave Bandz' McEaddy was tragically cut short. On May 18, 2016, what began as an attempted robbery of another man escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the young man's life. The male teenager was not the intended target but became the unintended victim of a senseless act of violence.
The incident unfolded just before midnight on Willmohr Street, near East 92nd Street in East Flatbush. A 24-year-old man was reportedly approached by an armed individual demanding money. Shortly after, two more armed men joined the initial aggressor, and shots were fired. It was during this chaotic moment that a stray bullet struck Cedric McEaddy in the torso. Police do not believe McEaddy knew the man who was being robbed.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 11:53 p.m., where they discovered both McEaddy and the 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds. The second victim had been shot in the hip and right hand. Both individuals were quickly transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. While the 24-year-old was listed in stable condition, Cedric McEaddy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
