Shamoya McKenzie, a 13-year-old girl from Mount Vernon, NY, tragically lost her life on December 31, 2016. Shamoya was a promising basketball player and an eighth-grader at Graham School. On that fateful day, she was riding in the front passenger seat of her mother's car when she was struck by a stray bullet in the head.
