On a day meant for celebration, New Year's Eve of 2016, the life of a promising 13-year-old female basketball star, Shamoya McKenzie, was tragically cut short in Mount Vernon, New York. She was a vibrant young girl with dreams of playing for the UConn Huskies and eventually in the WNBA.
