Detective Miosotis Familia, a 48-year-old NYPD officer and single mother of three, was tragically killed in the line of duty on July 5, 2017, in the Bronx, New York. Familia was sitting in a marked mobile command unit when she was ambushed and shot by a gunman. The attack occurred late at night, and she was targeted solely because of her uniform.
