Shaqwanda Staley, a 29-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York, tragically lost her life on July 12, 2017. She was one of two women fatally struck by stray bullets during a shooting incident at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. when two men opened fire into a crowd of approximately 20 people who were gathered in the courtyard.
