In a tragic event that unfolded within a Bronx apartment building, 54-year-old Susan Trivino was found fatally shot. The incident, which also claimed the life of her 29-year-old daughter, Sugeiry Guzman, occurred on a Wednesday inside their residence on East 174th Street. Authorities pronounced Trivino dead at the scene, while her daughter was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
A one-year-old child, believed to be Trivino's granddaughter, was discovered unharmed inside the apartment.
The investigation identified Jorge Vega, 52, as the shooter. Family members described Vega as Trivino's on-and-off boyfriend and noted that their relationship had been tumultuous. It was reported that Vega and Trivino had met while they were both employed as MTA bus drivers. Concerned family members had previously urged Trivino to end the relationship.
After shooting Trivino and her daughter, Vega turned the gun on himself in an attempted suicide. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and died from his injuries over the weekend. Following the tragedy, loved ones gathered for a service to remember both Susan Trivino and her daughter at the Ortiz Funeral Home in Parkchester.
