On a summer morning in the Bronx, 45-year-old Arileida Jimenez was handing out flyers when she was tragically caught in a burst of gunfire and killed. The incident, which occurred on June 21, 2018, in front of a strip mall on Castle Hill Avenue, also claimed the lives of two other individuals, 33-year-old Mustafa Tarver and 33-year-old Christopher Alleyne. Jimenez, a female, was an unintended victim in the deadly shooting.
Authorities believe that Tarver was the intended target of the assailant. Both Tarver and Alleyne were shot in the head, while Jimenez was struck in the torso by a stray bullet. All three victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries. The brazen daytime shooting shocked the local community.
The New York Police Department identified Samuel Cross as the suspect in the triple homicide. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Cross fleeing the scene. In the years following the shooting, Cross has remained a fugitive. His case has been featured on television shows such as 'In Pursuit with John Walsh' in an effort to locate him.
Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, continue to list Samuel Cross as a wanted individual for three counts of homicide. A reward has been offered for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Despite nationwide efforts to find him, including reported sightings in Maine, Cross has evaded capture and has not faced trial for the deaths of Arileida Jimenez, Mustafa Tarver, and Christopher Alleyne.
