In the heart of New Orleans, a city known for its vibrant life and deep-rooted complexities, the summer of 2016 was marked by a tragedy that silenced a voice within its community. On the evening of Saturday, July 23rd, a Black/African American man named Vidale Torrey Pope, known to his loved ones as "Poosie," was fatally shot. While initial information suggested the victim was 36 years old, official online sources and memorials state that Pope was 49 years of age at the time of his death.
