In the quiet community of Elmont, New York, a devastating act of violence shattered the morning calm on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Thirty-year-old Tertue Gregoire, a female resident, became the victim of a tragic murder-suicide that unfolded within her own home. The events of that day left a lasting scar on the neighborhood and in the hearts of those who knew her.
Just before noon, at approximately 11:39 a.m., the Nassau County Police Department received a distressing 911 call reporting
the sound of gunshots fired on Wellington Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene, and upon their arrival, they made a grim discovery. Inside the residence, they found both a man and a woman who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the sequence of events quickly revealed the heartbreaking truth of what had transpired. Authorities determined that 31-year-old Patrick Myrthil, Gregoire's husband, had shot his wife multiple times following an argument. After taking her life, Myrthil then turned the gun on himself, ending his own life in the same violent outburst.
