In the early hours of a Friday morning in the Bronx, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence that police believe had the markings of gang activity. Ariel Tejada, a 24-year-old man, was shot on the Grand Concourse and died on December 14, 2018. The incident unfolded after an argument, which escalated to the fatal shooting.
Tejada sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 a.m. Friends of Tejada mentioned that he lived in an apartment on the Grand Concourse with his mother.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the New York City Police Department confirmed they were investigating the homicide and its connections to the Trinitarios gang. Authorities began a search for those responsible for Tejada's death and offered a $1,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest. At the time of the initial reports, no suspects had been identified, and no arrests had been made in the case. The investigation into the death of Ariel Tejada was ongoing.
