In the early hours of August 6, 2019, the life of 26-year-old Charles Anthony Elliott Jr. was tragically cut short in a shooting in Port Chester, New York. Around 12:35 a.m., numerous 911 calls reported a shooting in progress in the vicinity of 9 Weber Drive, a housing complex in the village. Responding officers discovered Elliott, a resident of Port Chester, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his head.
Emergency medical services from Port Chester and Rye transported Elliott to
Greenwich Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. At the same time, another 26-year-old man, a resident of Rye Brook, was also being treated at Greenwich Hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds sustained in the same incident.
The Port Chester Police Department, with assistance from the Westchester County Police, secured the crime scene and launched an investigation into the homicide. In the days following the shooting, details about a potential suspect emerged. The individual was described as a Black male who was wearing a gray hoodie and dark clothing. He was reportedly last seen running south on Midland Avenue.
In an effort to gather more information, the New York State Crime Stoppers offered a cash reward of up to $2,500 for any information that would lead directly to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of Charles Anthony Elliott Jr. and the wounding of the second victim. Despite the ongoing investigation and the offered reward, there have been no subsequent online reports of any arrests being made in connection with the case, and the identity of the suspect or suspects remains publicly unknown. The case appears to be unresolved.
