In the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, the life of 36-year-old Leon Johnson was tragically cut short in his Lockport, New York home. A resident known for his work in landscaping and his devotion to his children, Johnson was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at approximately 2:33 A.M. on Cambridge Drive. Despite the efforts of medical responders, he succumbed to his injuries.
An autopsy later confirmed that the gunshot wounds were the cause of his death.
The investigation into the homicide was swiftly undertaken by the New York State Police. Their efforts led them to a motel in Rochester where they located and apprehended a suspect, 28-year-old Davaris Hodge, also a resident of Lockport. Hodge was subsequently arrested and faced charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Following his arrest, Davaris Hodge was held in the Niagara County Jail. As the legal process moved forward, Hodge ultimately chose to accept a plea offer from the prosecution. This plea brought a conclusion to the court proceedings in the case of Leon Johnson's death.
