John Mondello, a 23-year-old FDNY EMT, tragically died by suicide on April 24, 2020, in Queens, New York. Mondello had recently graduated from the EMS Academy in early February 2020 and was assigned to the Tactical Response Group at Station 18 in the Bronx. His death occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period marked by an unprecedented number of emergency calls and significant stress for frontline workers.
