In the early morning hours of July 24, 2020, the quiet of a Uniondale, New York neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call of possible shots fired on Tulip Court at approximately 4:45 a.m., Nassau County police officers arrived to a grim scene. Inside a home, they discovered 73-year-old Joseph Rosembert, a male resident of the community, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in a desperate attempt to save his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into the violent death of Rosembert quickly pointed to a suspect. Authorities identified 50-year-old Yonel Pitaud, another resident of Tulip Court, as the individual who allegedly shot Rosembert multiple times.
