In the late summer of 2017, a young man's life was tragically cut short on a street in Uniondale, New York. Miguel Hernandez, an 18-year-old male, was with a group of friends on Maplegrove Avenue on the evening of September 15th when violence erupted. The investigation into the shooting led authorities to Nerlin Omar
Chacon-Ruano, a 19-year-old from the neighboring town of Hempstead. Sources indicated that Chacon-Ruano was a member of the MS-13 street gang. According to court documents, he was in possession of a 9 mm firearm at the time of the incident and is alleged to have intentionally fired multiple shots at Hernandez. The Nassau County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Chacon-Ruano knew Hernandez and had specifically targeted him, although a precise motive for the killing was not publicly released.
Following his arrest, Nerlin Omar Chacon-Ruano was charged with murder in connection with the death of Miguel Hernandez. He was subsequently arraigned and remanded without bail.
