In the spring of 2015, the community of the Greater St. Mary Baptist Church in Algiers, Louisiana, witnessed the final moments of their beloved pastor, Kenneth Green, Sr. On Sunday, May 3rd, while delivering a sermon from the pulpit, a place he held dear, Pastor Green was suddenly called to his eternal rest. A native of Algiers and a resident of LaPlace, he was a man deeply rooted in his faith and community.
Born on May 13, 1959, Kenneth Green dedicated his life to his ministry and his
family. He was the loving husband of Ava Mallory Green and a devoted father to his three children, Brittni, Kenneth Jr., and Jeleah. His life was one of service, not only to his congregation but also to all who knew him. He was known for his powerful preaching and his unwavering commitment to spreading God's word. The suddenness of his passing during a worship service left his congregation and family in profound grief.
Following his untimely death, arrangements were made for a funeral service to honor his life and legacy. The service was held at L. B. Landry/O. Perry Walker College and Career Preparatory High School in New Orleans, allowing for the large number of mourners from his church and the wider community to pay their respects. He was laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in St. Rose, Louisiana. As his death was due to natural causes, there were no arrests or suspects involved. His passing was a significant loss for the religious community in the New Orleans area, leaving behind a legacy of faith and dedication.
