On a late summer evening in Brooklyn, the life of 41-year-old Derrick Garner was tragically cut short. On Monday, August 17, 2020, just after 10:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call on Bainbridge Street near Lewis Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered Garner, a resident of East New York, with multiple gunshot wounds to his arm and torso.
