In the summer of 2021, a burst of violence on a Monday afternoon in Syracuse, New York, ended the life of 42-year-old Kelvin Sharp. On August 2nd, at approximately 2:03 p.m., police responded to a call on the 200 block of Grandview Avenue. There, in the yard of a home, they discovered Sharp unresponsive. He had been shot in the back.
Emergency services rushed the male victim to Upstate University Hospital, but his injuries were too severe.
Kelvin Sharp was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The broad daylight shooting prompted an immediate and thorough investigation by the Syracuse Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division Homicide Unit.
A significant development in the case came just a week after the fatal shooting. A man named Kenneth Robinson, who was 46 years old at the time, turned himself in to authorities at the Public Safety Building. Following his surrender, Robinson was arrested and subsequently charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Sharp's death. He was then booked at the Onondaga County Justice Center to await further legal proceedings. Investigators continued to piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
