On the evening of April 18, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the relative quiet near a public housing complex in Brooklyn, leaving a 56-year-old man, James Huff, with fatal injuries. A resident of Strauss Street, Huff was found near the Brownsville Houses at 275 Blake Avenue at approximately 6:34 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers from the 73rd Precinct responded to a 911 call and discovered him with two gunshot wounds to his chest and another to his arm.
