Dextroy Dublin, a 29-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of July 12, 2022, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The shooting occurred on Thomas Boyland Street, near the intersection of Herkimer Street. When police arrived at the scene, they found Dublin with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
His death was one of three separate fatal shootings that took place in Brooklyn within a three-hour period that night.
Originally from Crown Heights, Dextroy Dublin was known to be an aspiring rapper. His death was a shock to his family and friends, who remembered him as a loving and funny individual. Following the incident, the New York Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide.
Less than 24 hours after the shooting, the NYPD released surveillance photos of a man they identified as a suspect in Dublin's death. In the images, the individual is seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Authorities appealed to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the person in the photographs. As of late 2022, his shooting was the only one of the three fatal incidents that night in which a suspect had been publicly identified with images. Despite the release of the photos, information regarding an arrest or the current status of the investigation has not been made publicly available. The case remains unsolved, and the police continue to ask anyone with information to contact their Crime Stoppers Hotline.
