In the late hours of a summer night in Belle Harbor, Queens, the life of Brendan Joseph McVeigh, a 28-year-old male NYPD detective, came to a tragic end. On July 31, 2022, he was discovered in his Rockaway apartment by his fiancée, having sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services were called to the scene, and he was rushed to Kings County Hospital, but his life could not be saved. He was pronounced dead on August 1, 2022.
