In the early morning hours of a Saturday in the fall of 2022, a dispute in a Harlem public housing complex turned fatal, leaving a 31-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Dujuan Williams, a male resident of New York. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. on October 22, within the Jackie Robinson Houses.
Responding to a 911 call, officers from the 25th Precinct and NYPD Police Service Area 5 discovered Williams unconscious and unresponsive at the
rear of 111 East 128th Street. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. Emergency medical services rushed him to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to witnesses at the scene, Williams had been engaged in a dispute with another individual moments before the fatal shot was fired. The suspect was described by law enforcement as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing all-black clothing. After the shooting, the suspect was seen fleeing the location on foot, heading south along Lexington Avenue.
As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released further details about the nature of the dispute that led to the deadly encounter.
