Charles Michael Walker Jr., a 15-year-old freshman at Suitland High School, was tragically shot and killed on February 18, 2013, in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of 28th Avenue. Walker was reportedly carrying a pair of Timberland boots in a shopping bag, which he intended to give to his girlfriend. According to police, the motive behind the shooting was robbery, as the suspect targeted Walker for the shoes he was carrying.
