In the city of Baltimore, on March 4, 2016, a workplace dispute turned fatal, claiming the life of 34-year-old Darrin Ulysses Johnson Jr. An employee of the Baltimore City Department of Public Works, Johnson was at his job when he was shot multiple times by a coworker. The incident, which took place within the locker room of a Department of Public Works building, was the culmination of an escalated argument.
Emergency services responded to reports of the shooting and transported Johnson to a trauma center, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
Following the shooting, a manhunt ensued for the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Cipisirono Cole. After a two-day search, Cole surrendered to authorities. The case took an unexpected turn when, on March 8, 2016, Cole was discovered deceased in his jail cell at the Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center in Baltimore.
