Tarekka Jones, a 26-year-old mother of three from Hyattsville, MD, tragically lost her life on March 7, 2016, in a double homicide that also claimed the life of her half-sister, Jalisa Walls-Harris. The incident occurred in Jones' apartment in Cheverly, Maryland, where both women were fatally shot by Kevin Tyrice Reynolds, Jones' ex-boyfriend. The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m., and one of Jones' children, a 5-year-old girl, witnessed the murders and identified Reynolds as the gunman.
