In the evening hours of November 11, 2017, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at the intersection of Forstall and Burgundy Streets in New Orleans, leaving a scene of chaos and tragedy. When the New Orleans Police Department arrived at approximately 7:54 p.m., they discovered that six people had been shot. Among the victims was Jeryan Edwards, a 24-year-old Black male, who tragically lost his life in the incident.
The shooting that claimed Edwards' life also left four other males and
one female with injuries, marking it as a sextuple shooting. The violence of that night sent ripples of shock and grief through the community. Jeryan, known to some as "Sosa," was remembered as a cool and loving person. He was a father and a laborer for Savard.
