In the late evening hours of August 23, 2016, the quiet community of Burtonsville, Maryland, was disturbed by an act of violence that claimed the life of 22-year-old Syed Asad Hassan. Emergency services were dispatched to a residence on Sandy Spring Road around 10:23 p.m. following a report of an assault.
