In the late summer of 2016, the community of Cambridge, Maryland, was shaken by the violent death of a local man. Taron Dontra Anderson, a 31-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of Wednesday, September 21, 2016. The incident that claimed Anderson's life unfolded in the 500 block of Saunders Avenue, where police were called to investigate reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Anderson suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into Anderson's death quickly gained momentum. The day after the shooting, authorities announced the arrest of their first suspect, 23-year-old Jaelin Green-Purnell, who was identified as the shooter. As the investigation continued, law enforcement identified a second individual believed to be involved in the homicide. On January 9, 2017, the Cambridge Police Department apprehended 24-year-old Terrance A. Conway. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and other related offenses. Conway was ordered to be held without bond.
Taron Anderson, known to his loved ones as 'Ox' or 'Fish,' was remembered as a loving brother, father, and friend. He had received his education in the public schools of Dorchester County and was most recently employed at Allen Foods in Cordova, MD. He was a father to six children. His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who mourned the loss of a man described as very nice and polite. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. John Holiness Church in Cambridge, followed by his interment at Bethel Cemetery.
